Good morning!
...
So, what’s our next move?!
The other day I said I’d share the detailed design blueprint with you.
But… nothing’s been decided yet…!
So, what’s our move here…?
Hold on—let me fire up the brainstorm for a sec…!
...
Remember how we dove into the mechanics of our heart-rate monitor?
Well, imagine repurposing that very technology to design a cutting-edge radar system for people with visual impairments—shall we bring it to life?! 🚀
Last time, we talked about blasting out a specific color of light with an LED and capturing it with a phototransistor.
By measuring even the tiniest shifts in the amount of reflected light, we can zero in on every heartbeat’s subtle changes!
Let’s harness this power! 🚀
Picture our smartwatch’s face blasting out a pulse of light – when a tidal wave of that glow crashes back into the sensor, you know an obstacle is right up close!
And when only a faint shimmer returns, you can be sure it’s farther away.
But hey—light is everywhere, flooding our world from every angle!
So just blasting out a beam and measuring whatever trickles back?
You’ll never lock in an accurate distance that way…
So here’s the kicker… when our sensor snags some light, it has to know that it’s our own beam coming back—not just any random glow out there!
Buckle up—things are about to get a bit trickier now!!
But in a nutshell, just picture a TV or air-con remote control.
Imagine this—even when there’s all kinds of light around, a TV remote can still reliably change the channel and adjust the volume.
How does a TV remote work?
It actually uses an LED in much the same way.
We can’t see its light because it’s infrared—light that’s invisible to the human eye.
But how on earth does a simple button press manage to pinpoint the exact channel or crank the volume up just right every single time?!
Isn’t that mind-blowing?!
It’s like pure magic!
To be honest, I can’t dive into the juicy details here…
Because this is… RADAR. ⚡
And believe me—some people out there would use it for all the wrong reasons! 💥
Can you believe your TV remote has anything to do with RADAR?
It sounds insane—but it’s absolutely true!
...
Alright—let’s kick things off by diving into the world of your TV remote control! 🚀
Brace yourself—your TV remote is actually blinking! 🔥
Want to see it for yourself?
Press any button, open your laptop camera, and watch the magic: you’ll spot the LED pulsing away!
That’s because your laptop camera sensor can catch invisible infrared light that our eyes simply can’t see. 📱✨
Through these rapid-fire blinking patterns, your remote can command the TV to jump channels or crank up the volume on the fly!
...
And hey—I know it all sounds totally mysterious right now.
That’s completely normal!
Nobody masters it on their very first try!
In a nutshell, it’s the very same trick as Morse code—blazing dots and dashes of light!
Have you ever heard of Morse code?! 🚀
Short beeps turn into lightning-fast flashes of light!
Long tones morph into sustained, blazing beams of brilliance! 🚀✨
Let me say it one more time—just use an Arduino, and it’s ridiculously easy!
But wow—those Arduinos are pricey and gigantic! 💥
Never forget our golden rules for this smartwatch:
Lightweight. Affordable. Absolutely stylish.
Let’s make it happen! 🚀✨
No way!
We cannot yield to the mighty force of Arduino!!
Our mantra is clear—Affordable. Feather-light. And outrageously cool!
...
Ah—you clever innovators out there spotted it!
If someone else is rocking the same smartwatch, you can literally chat right through these light pulses—no Bluetooth required.
Imagine it: a direct, stylish comms bridge linking those who are deaf or blind with everyone else, all through our cutting-edge wrist tech!
...
At long last, we’re about to dive into RADAR! 🚀
Oh—look at the time! I’m so sorry, but I really need just one more power nap… 😴
Rest assured, I’ll be right back here tomorrow without fail.
Alright then—see you tomorrow! ✨
